Feel the fear and do it anyway!

I have been to Cape Town three times now. The first two times I was sure I would go to the top of Table Mountain(especially as one of the trips had the potential to include a proposal). Sadly I took one look at the tiny cable car swinging around like a dot and balked – both times.

This time however, I was with my children. The same feelings of anxiety washed over me as I reached the car park and heard myself saying – “you may have to go up on your own, I don’t think I can do this!!!”

My children very calmly accepted what I’d said and set about walking with me to the cable car entrance. It was at this point that my son said,

“ Remember what you always say to us mum – feel the fear and do it anyway!!! You’ll be really proud of yourself if you can overcome it!!”

I kept walking and had several internal conversations with myself, did some silent breath work and slowly allowed myself to consider the option of going up! As I got closer my shoulders relaxed and I started to believe I could do it!!

This isn’t the best photo of me clutching to the centre of the revolving cable car floor but perhaps it’s lives the words.

I felt the fear and did it anyway – it was spectacular and the children were very proud!!

Moral of the story. It’s never too late to take your own advice! 😂😂
